    Combine all ingredients except last four in a large mix- ing bowl

    Dissolve bouillon in the boiling water and add to mixture

  • 3

    Shape into a loaf and place in greased bak- ing pan

  • 4

    Top with bacon strips

  • 5

    Bake in moderate oven (350 F.)

    After meat has baked approximately 25 min- utes, remove from oven and spoon chili sauce on top of loaf

    Return to oven for another 35-40 minutes. DUTCH OVEN INSTRUCTIONS: If baking in your Dutch oven on the stovetop, preheat oven or kettle to moderate (350 F.) and place rack or trivet on bottom of oven

    Place meat loaf pan on rack

    Cover Dutch oven tightly with lid and bake 15-20 minutes

    Open lid and spoon chili sauce on top

    Then vent lid on both sides and bake 35-40 minutes more.

ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 1/4 pound pork sausage
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
  • 3 slices bread, crumbled
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 /8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons ground sage
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 4 tablespoons chili sauce
