- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 /2 cup dry white wine or vermouth

- 4 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 4 (4 ounce) salmon steaks
- 4 large fresh basil leaves
- 2 (14 x 2 inch) sheets heavy-duty aluminum foil
