Heat oil in a 4-quart saucepan and cook onions until tender, about 6 minutes

Add the Bourbon, ketchup, vinegar, orange juice, maple syrup, molasses, Worcestershire, salt and pepper

Bring to a boil, stirring frequently

Reduce heat to low and simmer until mixture thickens, about 30 minutes. Yield: 1-1/2 cups SUGGESTED USE: This is a delicious sauce for pork spareribs (12 hours), pork tenderloin (4 hours), chicken pieces (4 hours) or boneless breasts (2 hours)

Use some of the sauce as a basting sauce during the cooking and more to serve with the meat.
Orange Bourbon BBQ Sauce
ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, minced
- 2/3 cup Bourbon whiskey
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup real maple syrup
- 1/3 cup dark molasses
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
