    In a large pot, saute onions in butter until soft

    Gradually stir in flour then slowly add hot chicken broth

  • 3

    Cook, stirring constantly, until soup is smooth and thickened

    Stir in milk and bring to boil

  • 5

    Add vermicelli and season to taste with black pepper

  • 6

    Continue to cook until pasta is al dente.

ingredients

  • 1 half load of pasta dough made into vermicelli
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2-1/2 cups hot chicken broth
  • 2 quarts of milk
  • freshly ground black pepper
