    Trim ends off green beans

    Cut bacon slices across into 1/2-inch pieces. Cook green beans in a large pot of boiling salted water for 5 to 6 minutes

    Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking

    Drain well

    Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, stirring frequently

    Using a slotted spoon, remove bacon to paper towels to drain

    Add the olive oil to the bacon drippings and toss in the green beans

    Cook, stirring frequently, until beans are lightly browned and tender

    Season with salt and pepper

    Serve green beans sprinkled with bacon and toasted pine nuts.
