Peel and mince garlic and place in a medium bowl

Cut jalapeno in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and membrane

Finely dice the chili and add to the garlic

Whisk in the lime juice and oil

Remove foot (connective tissue) from side of each scallop and add to marinade

Cover and refrigerate 1 to 2 hours. Remove scallops from marinade and wrap outside edge with bacon

Secure with toothpicks

Broil until bacon is crispy and scallop is just done, 3 to 4 minutes per side.

- 1 large jalapeno chili
- 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 16 large sea scallops
- 8 slices bacon, cut in half crosswise
