Mix chopped dried fruits, dried beef, and orange peel thoroughly with spices, sugar, flavoring, vine- gar, oil, syrup, egg, and flour

Work in enough cider, brandy or rum to make a heavy dough

Put dough into an 8 inch pan and bake at 325 degrees F

for an hour or longer, until it sets well and is not too sticky

Spiced Pemmican can be kept for several weeks.
SPICED PEMMICAN
ingredients
- 1/2 cup each apricots, dates and raisins
- 1/2 cup dried beef
- Peel of I orange, grated
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. each nutmeg, and allspice
- Pinch salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 TB each vinegar, oil, and maple syrup
- 1/2 of a beaten egg
- 1/2 cup flour
- Cider, brandy, or rum to make a heavy dough.
