- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried sage leaves
- or 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 /4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
