Save the whites of 2 eggs for meringue

Beat 3 eggs and 2 yolks

Stir in 2 cups of molasses, sugar, water, and salt

Pour into top of double boiler, add com starch; then place over hot water and stir while cooking

Cook until quite thick

Stir in soda, butter, nutmeg

Set aside to cool while baking a large, deep-crust pie shell

When the filling is cool, pour into pie shell

Make meringue and pile on top of pie; place in oven until light brown

This makes a large pie.

- 2 cups sorghum molasses
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 5 eggs
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon corn starch
- pinch of soda
- 1 teaspoon butter
- dash of nutmeg
