Wash, peel, and core apples; place cores and peelings in saucepan with 2 cups of water and boil down until one cup of juice is left

Strain; add sugar, flour, nutmeg, and butter

Place saucepan on stove and boil until it is a little thick, then cool

Slice apples into crust; then pour the thickened juice over apples; place top crust on and vent

Dampen pie with a little cold water and sprin- kle with a little white sugar

- 6 tart apples
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 /2 cup brown sugar
